Computer Courses

PLEASE NOTE: All computer courses are taught in a Windows XP environment with Microsoft Office 2010 and are designed for different levels of experience. Those with limited or no experience with a PC and Windows should take Computer Basics & Keyboarding prior to other courses. All other courses are for those confident with Windows and who have good typing and mouse skills. Each student works at an individual computer.

INTRODUCTION TO ACCESS - Sam Richards

Learn the basics of how databases work, why we use them, data entry forms, queries, and reports. We will build a complete Access database as a class project throughout the course. Basic knowledge of keyboarding, mouse use, and Windows is needed.

WEB SITE DESIGN - Rachel Gonzalez

Learn the basics of creating a simple webpage/website . Basic overview of the world wide web, linking web pages to create a web site and domain registration will be covered. Basic PC and keyboarding skills necessary.

ADVANCED eBAY – Patricia Antlitz

Topics will include determining price and marketability of your product, eBay fee structure, uploading photos, tracking Internet traffic, interpreting feedback, monitoring your merchandise, collecting payment, shipping options, international sales, PayPal, half.com, and phishing.

Exeter Adult Education’s most basic computer course for absolute beginners who need to start from square one with typing, mouse techniques, computer terminology, word processing and basic Internet and email skills.

DAYTIME EXCEL BASICS - Vaso Partinoudi

Switching to EXCEL 2010 from a previous version? Learn shortcuts to use pivot tables, graphs, large worksheets/workbooks and using it as a database.

DAYTIME INTRODUCTION TO WORD - Vaso Partinoudi

This course will cover the basics of word processing, mail merge, and how to create professional letters, announcements, brochures, business forms, and newsletters. Basic PC and keyboarding skills necessary.

EMAIL & INTERNET BASICS – Michele Whitehouse(evening) & Vaso Partinoudi (daytime)

Learn the basics of how to check & send, organize & protect yourself from unwanted email. Come 20 minutes early to set up email account if needed.

INTERMEDIATE EXCEL - Sam Richards

Unlock the power of Excel with functions. Explore several functions that help manipulate data including text, statistical and conditional functions. Learn how to link spreadsheets, use conditional formatting for emphasis, and create basic charts for visual impact. A good foundation of MS Excel is required.

INTRODUCTION TO eBAY – Patricia Antlitz

Gain a basic understanding of how this worldwide marketplace works from an experienced eBayer. Explore the variety of products offered, discuss the different types of sellers, walk through posting an item, explore how to bid and what to expect when you purchase an item.

INTRODUCTION TO POWERPOINT – Rachel Gonzalez

Create professional-looking presentations for use in business, school, or other meetings.  Participants will learn how to produce slides, signs, and other exciting graphics, and how to hyperlink to the Internet.  Basic PC knowledge and adequate keyboarding skills necessary.

IPAD MINI FOR BEGINNERS- Jennifer Middaugh

The iPad Mini is here and we want you to have it! This is the iPad you’ve come to know and love, only smaller. This workshop will be for those who are new to iPad technology. Learn to customize the settings and navigate through the basic functions. You will be guided through apps that will be useful in organization, productivity, collaboration, creativity, reference and communication to enhance your own learning . A light dinner will be served. It is helpful if you have an itunes account set up before the workshop. The cost for this workshop is $429 and includes a 16gb wifi version iPad Mini ($ 329 ipad/ $100class- no discounts) Payment in the form of cash, check or PO payable to ERCSD-SPDC must be received by the day of class for you to participate.

WEB SMART WORKSHOP - Jean Dumais

If your kids use an iPod touch, iPad, computer or even a cell phone, you need to be Web Smart! Join us as Jean demonstrates safe searching in Google, Yahoo, and Bing; restriction settings on devices; and parental control options for computers and devices. Participants will learn what steps to take to protect themselves and their families online.
