Computer Courses

PLEASE NOTE: All computer courses are taught in a Windows XP environment with Microsoft Office 2010 and are designed for different levels of experience. Those with limited or no experience with a PC and Windows should take Computer Basics & Keyboarding prior to other courses. All other courses are for those confident with Windows and who have good typing and mouse skills. Each student works at an individual computer.

ADVANCED EXCEL - Sam Richards

Learn to evaluate your data in detailed ways. Students will learn to create data lists, sort and filter data, create pivot tables, and more. Completion of Intermediate Excel is required.

EMAIL & INTERNET BASICS – Michele Whitehouse

Learn the basics of how to check & send, organize & protect yourself from unwanted email. Come 20 minutes early to set up email account if needed.

INTERMEDIATE COMPUTER BASICS - Rebekah Prince

For those with some personal computer experience, who would like to gain confidence in using Microsoft Word, email and the internet. Learn to create and manage folders and files, save favorite web pages, print and attach files to email plus you will learn introductory keyboarding skills.

INTERMEDIATE EXCEL - Sam Richards

Unlock the power of Excel with functions. Explore several functions that help manipulate data including text, statistical and conditional functions. Learn how to link spreadsheets, use conditional formatting for emphasis, and create basic charts for visual impact. A good foundation of MS Excel is required.

INTRO WEB SITE DESIGN 2 - Sam Richards

A continuation from Part 1. Learn how to use CSS for positioning elements and page layout such as a two column web page. Build an HTML form for user input. Use advanced CSS techniques to make a hyperlink come alive. We'll use our knowledge to build a basic website in class. Use of web hosting companies and content management systems will be discussed. Knowledge of basic HTML and CSS required.

INTRO WEB SITE DESIGN I - Sam Richards

Learn the core elements of HTML5 and CSS3. We learn the fundamental building blocks of a web page such as HTML sections, headings, paragraphs, lists, images, and tables. We'll learn how to code CSS to style our elements with fonts, color, borders, and background. We'll also connect webpages together using hyperlinks. Knowledge of basic keyboarding skills required.

INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER BASICS – Rebekah Prince

Exeter Adult Education’s most basic computer course for those with no experience with computers. Learn about the differences in types of computers and the parts of
computers. Students will learn to use the mouse to access common software, email, and the internet. Keyboarding skills may be introduced.

INTRODUCTION TO EXCEL - SAM RICHARDS

Students will learn the fundamentals of spreadsheet development including data entry and manipulation, presentation and formatting, basic formulas, and printing. Emphasis will be placed on using proper spreadsheet conventions and learning the MS Excel 2010 environment. Basic PC and keyboarding skills necessary.

INTRODUCTION TO POWERPOINT – Sandra Gilbert

Create professional-looking presentations for use in business, school, or other meetings.  Participants will learn how to produce slides, signs, and other exciting graphics, and how to hyperlink to the Internet.  Basic PC knowledge and adequate keyboarding skills necessary.

INTRODUCTION TO WORD - Sandra Gilbert

This course will cover the basics of word processing, mail merge, and how to create professional letters, announcements, brochures, business forms, and newsletters. Basic PC and keyboarding skills necessary.

INTRODUCTORY CONCEPTS FOR DIGITALCAMERAS – Marcia Dolgin

CLASS IS FULL AS OF 1/15/2014
This class is open to new students as well as a continuation for those who took Intro to Digital Photography. Structured more around each student’s level, learn how to use your camera more effectively for light and design. Includes instruction on printing, presentation and image enhancement. Bring your camera, your curiosity, your sense of humor.

POWERPOINT FOR STORYTELLING – Amy Selwyn

The best presentations -- the ones that are inspiring and dynamic and issue the audience with a Call to Adventure -- use creative storytelling techniques. Learn some great tips for rocking your presentations and using PowerPoint to its full potential. Presentations at company events, board meetings, etc., will suddenly take on new and powerful ways of engaging with the audience.
