Computer Courses

PLEASE NOTE: Computer courses are taught using Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 and designed for different levels of experience. Those with limited or no experience with a PC and Windows should take Computer Basics prior to other courses. All other courses are for those confident with Windows and who have good keyboarding and mouse skills.

WINTER SPRING 2015 COMPUTER/TECHNOLOGY TRAINING

EMAIL/INTERNET BASICS, MICHELLE WHITEHOUSE - Mondays, 2 weeks, beginning March 9, $45 , 6:00-8:00 pm

Learn the basics to send, organize & protect yourself from unwanted email, attach & send documents and turn documents into a PDF file. Come 20 minutes early to set up email account if needed. Basic PC and keyboarding skills necessary.    

Facebook, Twitter and Social Media: Taking it to the next level,  Amy Selwyn- Thursdays, 3 weeks, beginning March 5, $65, 6:00 - 8:00 pm
This class is aimed at the person who is familiar with Facebook and how it works in general, but wants to dive in a little deeper and discover how to maximize the use of various networks. How do you link FB and Twitter with your professional website? How do you promote a small business? How do take advantage of social media to do more with photos and videos? Must be familiar with Facebook and have an active account. You will be asked to open Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest accounts.  Plan to bring a laptop or a tablet (iPad, Galaxy) with you to class. Although all of these networks are available on smartphones, it is not advisable to try and learn how to use them on that small of a screen. This will be fun and interactive class!


INTRODUCTION COMPUTER Basics, Julie Hall - Thursdays, 5 weeks, beginning February 12, $95, 5:30-7:00 pm

Our most basic computer course for those with no experience. Learn about the
differences in types of computers and learn to use the mouse to access common software, email, and the internet. Keyboarding skills may be introduced.

INTERMEDIATE COMPUTER BASICS, JULIE HALL – Thursdays, 5 weeks, beginning February 12, $95, 7:15-8:45 pm
For those with some personal computer experience, who would like to gain
confidence in using Microsoft Word, email and the internet. Learn to create and manage folders and files, save favorite web pages, print and attach files to email & introductory keyboarding skills.

Introduction to Photoshop, Rich Hudgins - Thursdays, 6 weeks, beginning March 12, $100, 6:00-8:00 pm
Students will be given a guided overview of Adobe Photoshop and will be instructed in the process of photo restoration, enhancement and preparation for print. This class is designed for beginners and amateur photographers. Techniques learned can also be applied to Photoshop
Elements, Adobe’s entry-level version of the program.

INTRODUCTION TO EXCEL, GLENN SHEPHERD - Tuesdays, 5 weeks, beginning March 10, $95, 7:00-9:00 pm

Learn the fundamentals of spreadsheet development including data entry and manipulation, presentation and formatting, basic formulas, and printing. Emphasis will be placed on using proper spreadsheet conventions and the MS Excel 2010 environment. Basic PC and keyboarding skills necessary.
    
INTERMEDIATE EXCEL, GLENN SHEPHERD - Tuesdays, 5 weeks, beginning April 14, $95, 7:00-9:00 pm
Unlock the power of Excel with functions. Explore several functions that help manipulate data
including text, statistical and conditional functions. Learn how to link spreadsheets, use conditional formatting for emphasis, and create basic charts. A good foundation of Excel is required.

INTRODUCTION TO POWERPOINT, JULIE HALL - Thursdays, 2 weeks, beginning May 7, $50, 5:30-8:00 pm
Create professional-looking presentations for use in business, school, or other meetings. Learn how to produce slides, signs, and exciting graphics, and how to hyperlink to the Internet. Basic PC and keyboarding skills necessary.

INTRODUCTION TO WORD, JULIE HALL - Thursdays, 5 weeks, beginning March 26, $95, 5:30-8:00 pm
This course will cover the basics of word processing, mail merge, and how to create professional letters, announcements, brochures, business forms, and newsletters. Basic PC and keyboarding skills necessary.
